Al-Hofra means “the hole” in Arabic, and in Libya it is a place where you can find several seafood restaurants along Al-Fattah road by the sea, the place have been shut for unknown reasons except that we can confirm that they were not health-related.

As far as we can tell they have been closed for a week now, and there are no information regarding the re-opening date.

The restaurants area was one of Tripoli’s tourist attractions and a frequently visited place by the locals for it’s delicious fresh seafood meals.

If you have any information regarding the re-opening of Al-Hofra, please email us at contribute@whatson.ly

Stay tuned!

I was gutted to hear that the Yellow (Caterpillar) has demolished the whole area, it’s a sad news which I received just a few days from a friend who just came back from Libya since it was the only place where you could take guests (foreigners) for a descent meal while you are in Tripoli, I have been recommending this place to anyone travelling to Libya for business or leisure and I always receive excellent feedbacks, one of which my family-in-law (Germans) who loved and still talk about it, they are planning to visit Libya again but do not where to take them.
Anyway, it seems the Yellow will NOT stop there, let’s wait and see where it’s going to hit next time and I hope it’s NOT my house which is NOT far from this area!!!
